Pflitsch LevelEx, LevelEx AC, LevelEx TRI – ATEX cable glands
The industry based on work in potentially explosive zones has its own rules. Mining of mineral resources, production of chemical products, transport and storage of food products are highly risk. To ensure safety in this very specific working environment, structural engineers need reliable components. The growing demand for products adapted to ATEX requirements meant that in 2018 Pflitsch presented an offer for customers from the oil, gas, chemical and marine industries by presenting a new series of LevelEx cable glands. Initially, it consisted of specialized products for non-armoured cables. In addition to appropriate sealing parameters (sealing range up to 66 mm) and materials (nickel-plated brass or stainless steel AISI 316L paired with silicone insert), the products are distinguished by compact size. It facilitates the installation of the gland and allows the component to be used in places with limited installation space. The IP66 and IP68 levels of tightness are ensured by special 2-stage cascade structure. An undoubted advantage of the LevelEx series glands is also a wide range of operating temperatures ranging from -60 to +130°C.
Since the launch of the series, the manufacturer has been guided by the goal of creating a complete range of ATEX cable glands. The LevelEx family has been growing successively. Last year, the LevelEx AC group made its debut, which extended the series with a product for armored cables. Thanks to the compression seal, it effectively protects the inner sheath of the cable. It also has a flood seal with an o-ring. Another advantage is the innovative system that enables to check the correctness of the installation without having to dismantle the cable (two opposite "inspection windows"). In recent months, a group of glands with additional efficient EMC shielding (in the form of a patented spring) has also appeared on the market - LevelEx TRI, which meets the needs of applications susceptible to the influence of electromagnetic radiation.
Focusing on the mining and chemical sectors, but also on the food, pharmaceutical, sawmill or agricultural industries (e.g. feed production), the manufacturer has made sure that the LevelEx TRI series is approved for individual types of ignition protection. In this way, the glands adapt to the standards "Ex d" (flameproof enclosure), "Ex e" (increased safety), "Ex ta" (dust ignition protection by enclosure). This specificity makes the products in this group perfect as part of engines, lighting, sensors, measuring devices, etc.
It is also worth noting that by introducing cable glands from the LevelEx TRI group to the market, the manufacturer filled the gap for blueglobe TRI Ex-e II glands.
